MDC hosting free prescribed fire program in Linneus on Oct. 15

LINNEUS, Mo. –  Prescribed fire can be a valuable tool for managing native plant diversity and controlling undesirable vegetation, but it can be dangerous and ineffective when not used properly.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites landowners and land managers to learn about using prescribed fire as a land-management tool on Thursday, Oct. 15,  from 1 – 4 p.m. at the University of Missouri Forage Systems Research Center at 21262 Genoa Road in Linneus. The workshop will provide basic information about how to plan and execute a prescribed burn for grassland management.

Space is limited and registration is required at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/220686.

For more information on the program, contact MDC Private Land Conservationist Ethan Baker at (660) 258-5732 Ext. 3021, or Ethan.Baker@mdc.mo.gov.

For more information on prescribed fire, visit MDC online at mdc.mo.gov/your-property/fire-management/prescribed-fire.

MDC is committed to accessibility at all its nature centers, regional facilities, and conservation areas. To request an ADA accommodation for participation in MDC programs, visit mdc.mo.gov/accessibility.
